WHO IS LORD SHIVA ?

In the Hindu trinity of gods, which also includes Brahma (the creator) and Vishnu (the preserver), Lord Shiva is one of the most adored deities and is viewed as the transformer and destroyer of evil.     In Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva is frequently pictured as a yogi who wears a crescent moon on his head and has an ash-covered body. He is seen dancing on Apasmara, the demon of ignorance, and is also known as Nataraja, the Lord of Dance.

Lord Shiva is frequently linked to simplicity, austerity, meditation, and a straightforward way of living. He is frequently portrayed with a serpent around his neck and a trishul (trident) in his hand because he is also regarded as the lord of all animals.     Hindu mythology states that Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati were married and had two sons, Ganesha and Kartikeya. Ardhanarishvara, a form that merges Shiva and Parvati, Bhairava, and Rudra, the storm and hunter god, are just a few of the many different forms and manifestations of Lord Shiva that are thought to exist.

Millions of people worship Lord Shiva all around the world, and his followers frequently recite the mantra "Om Namah Shivaya" out of respect and devotion. Hindus all throughout the world enthusiastically celebrate his festivals, such as Maha Shivratri.
