    Andhak is the name of Lord Shiva's blind son in Hindu mythology. Lord Shiva was deep in concentration when a drop of sweat from his forehead gave birth to Andhaka.     Andhak is frequently depicted as a formidable demon with great power and a tremendous thirst for power.     According to some legends, Andhak attempts to forcefully wed Parvati, Lord Shiva's wife, after falling in love with her.

    In the ensuing conflict between Lord Shiva and Andhak, the demon is ultimately vanquished and the universe's equilibrium is restored.     Many people interpret the tale of Andhak as an allegory for the human ego and the necessity to get rid of it in order to reach enlightenment.     By eliminating Andhak, Lord Shiva metaphorically vanquishes the ego and brings peace and balance back to the cosmos.
